Disco Soup from Soup to Nuts!

Learn the history of Disco Soup, why it is so important and how it can be just the shot in the arm that your chapter or community needs!

At this session, Mara Welton of Slow Food Vermont will share successful strategies for holding a Disco Soup while engaging with new partners, impacting your community in very measurable ways, creating joy with your neighbors and fighting food waste all at once!

Slow Food Vermont has held three wildly successful Disco Soup events in conjunction with the global Slow Food Youth Network World Disco Soup Day event held each April. Their model focuses on gleaning produce from root cellars and walk-in coolers on farms nearing the end of their storage life. These get turned into community meals for the local Food Shelf, feeding upwards of 7000 people with the gleanings. Mara will share many models and strategies for fighting food waste using the power of our Slow Food communities.
