A native of Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, Genet was displaced to Denver in 2001 in view of opportunity and new beginnings. Despite the challenges of being a single mother of three daughters and the tribulations that coupled with creating a new home in a foreign country, Genet has personified her experiences to provide for her family through food. Genet pursued this career through Comal, learning and gaining industry knowledge to one day own her very own restaurant. She believes that whomever she cooks for is family, that her identity, heart and soul, nourishes her people. She is driven by her desire to share her story and most of all, to provide authentic, home-cooking to the residents of Denver.
