Brittany Martens is the Team Nutrition Grant Educator for the Cooking Up Healthy Options with Plants (CHOP) Grant. The CHOP Grant focuses on providing children as young as three with fresh fruit and vegetable curriculum, on-site gardening and culinary skill-based training for child care cooks. Farm to child care provides the opportunity to engage children in gardening, taste-testing and creating connections to where food comes from. The curated culinary training provides the directors and cooks with the necessary knowledge to take forward and implement fresher and more vibrant menus for the children they serve.
Brittany holds a BS in Human Nutrition and Dietetics in addition to a Culinary Degree, and is currently completing her MPH. Brittany is passionate about helping children live healthy lives through connecting them to their food, and engaging families and educators throughout the process.
