The world of policy can be an intimidating one, especially for many folks in the good food movement who would probably prefer digging in the soil to digging into complex policy proposals. Policy is an important part of our work however, and as advocates of a Good, Clean, and Fair food and farm system, we must be prepared to engage our political leaders around the issues that matter most to us.
Led by two members of Slow Food USA’s National Policy Committee, this session will provide a brief introduction to the world of food and farm policy, and also put a special focus on the how-to’s of advocacy. Food policy, advocacy, and communications veterans Reana Kovalcik (National Sustainable Agriculture Coalition) and Kevin Scribner (Salmon-Safe) will take attendees through an interactive hour of policy advocacy training, Slow Food style – active participation and questions encouraged!
