Rico is the founder of a co-op made up of maguey farmers that produce different products from the plant (pulque, syrup, leaves for barbacoa, spirits, etc.) in the Northern section of the state of Puebla since 1996. Currently, there are more than 380 maguey farmers from the Mexican highlands that are integrated into this co-op. The Presidium was started in 2016 to preserve the biodiversity and culture of agave in the Mexican Plateau.
