Jason Babbie

Deputy Director of Urban Solutions, NRDC

Jason K. Babbie is Deputy Director of Urban Solutions at the Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC), which seeks to build strong, just and resilient communities that provide solutions to climate change. His core responsibilities are managing the senior team’s cross-programmatic work, learnings and communications; overseeing budgeting and staffing; leading the creation of scalable municipal-level initiatives; and reviewing high-level strategy for existing projects. Before joining NRDC, Jason designed and managed the Vibrant Oceans Initiative and developed and managed the domestic components of the Sustainable Cities Initiative at Bloomberg Philanthropies, representing half of its environmental giving at the time. He also served as the Membership Services Program Director at the Environmental Grantmakers Association and directed a variety of successful environmental issue campaigns as the Senior Environmental Policy Analyst for the New York Public Interest Research Group and Air and Energy Program Director for Environmental Advocates of New York. He was also an Adjunct Professor at Pace University and consultant to the Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management. He is currently a member of the Advisory Council of The Ocean Foundation. Jason holds a BS in Environmental Studies, concentrating on Policy and Management from the State University of New York, College of Environmental Science and Forestry/Syracuse University and an MA in Environmental Policy from Brown University.
