Bhavani Jaroff

Chef and Educator, iEat Green

Bhavani Jaroff is a natural foods chef, educator and radio host. She is the owner of iEat Green, LLC, a multi-faceted organization providing chef services, cooking classes and educational demos for families, schools, businesses, and libraries. She has over thirty years of experience cooking natural foods in restaurants, cafeterias and for private events. She is the host of iEat Green with Bhavani, a weekly radio show on the Progressive Radio Network, and is a co-chair of Slow Food North Shore (formerly Huntington). Her career began in college, where she was asked to design and implement a vegetarian meal plan for her university. After college, she founded Morningstar Catering, a full service natural foods catering company, which she ran for 12 years, before choosing to become a “stay at home” mom with three children. While home, she formed a food co-op for her community, which she ran out of her garage for the next 8 years. Ms. Jaroff went on to get her Masters in Education and Waldorf Teacher Certification from Antioch University. That training brought together her passion for children, education, nutrition and gardening. Ms. Jaroff transformed the traditional cafeteria lunch program at The Waldorf School in Garden City into a holistic, educational, food service program, with a community service component. Her community service program to cook for food pantries in “Feeding the Homeless,” expanded to include students, teachers, parents and members of the community. That program still continues today!
