The Ark of Taste Voyage

The Ark of Taste is Slow Food’s library of delicious and distinctive foods facing extinction. In the two decades since the Ark of Taste was founded, over 5000 foods worldwide, and over 400 foods in the US, have been boarded onto the Ark. These foods have been featured in articles, in dinners, planted in gardens, taught about in classes and in many other ways, bringing awareness to well-deserved foods that are hard to find, rarely grown and even in danger of disappearing.

Ark of Taste foods vary from wild products and domesticated plants and animals, to culturally important foods like cheeses and jellies. Foods are sometimes indigenous and sometimes carried by immigrants to their new homes. All Ark of Taste foods must be special, must taste good, and must reflect the values of Slow Food.

Join us to talk about some of the products boarded onto the Ark, successes in raising awareness and challenges in doing so.
