Fracking and Food

There’s no way around it. Farmers are stuck between a rock and a hard place. Struggling to make ends meet with agriculture alone, many farmers lease their lands to oil and gas companies for fracking. Yet the promises of economic support don’t disclose the inevitability of water contamination, air pollution, and the increase of health problems for both humans and animals.

Join experts from Protect our Winters, Hilary Baum from the New York Sustainable Business Council, Jim Brett from Slow Food Western Slow, and moderator Richard Stein of the Riverdale Press to discuss the impact of fracking on the environment and our food system.
