Originally from the Isle of Jersey, home of the Jersey cow breed, John Greeley attended University of Massachusetts-Amherst, preparing for a career in radio. It wasn’t until his first taste of authentic handmade cheese that he decided to change careers. After 10 years of managing the cheese division at John Dewar Meat Company, John founded Sheila Marie Imports, Ltd. As President, he was instrumental in connecting local cheesemakers to retailers in the Northeast region. Gourmet Foods International purchased Sheila Marie Imports in 2007; John then joined GFI as Vice President of Northeast Sales. John’s cheese influence expands into New Zealand as well. After spending considerable time traveling the country to develop wine and cheese curriculums, and conduct trainings, John was recruited by the New Zealand Specialist Cheesemakers Association where he has led in a number of capacities. Following his 2002 induction into the Guilde des Fromagers. John was elevated to Maitre Fromager in 2010. John resides in Reading, MA with his wife, Nancy, and twin sons William and Walter.
