Ed Roehr

Chef and partner, Magpie Café

Ed Roehr is a chef and founding partner of Magpie Café in Sacramento, California. Since 2005, Magpie has sought to serve farm to table fare that reflects the values of life in California’s Central Valley. Ed has worked as a sous chef for small restaurants and training chef for an upscale steakhouse chain. He started his restaurant career prepping food and washing dishes.

Ed spent a year in a small osteria in Venice, Italy. Most of all Ed’s time in Italy informed him of a way of cooking and eating that valuedseasonality and local ingredients. Ed is passionate about making restaurants more equitable work environments and serving local foods. Ed earned a BA in Economics from the University of California, Santa Cruz. Ed Roehr currently sits on the board of Slow Food Sacramento and was a delegate to Terra Madre 2016 in Turin, Italy.
